First test of the season launches TGR’s 2012 campaign

Saturday 11 February 2011, Circuit d'Alcarràs: Team Gardner Racing conducted their first test of the season this weekend to ‘shake down’ their Moto3 NSF250 machines.

Riders Remy Gardner (Australia) and Gabriele Rodrigo (Spain) were extremely happy with the new bikes. Gabriel will ride the Honda NSF250 in the CEV Buckler this year whilst team-mate Remy will ride a new Moriwaki Dream GP3 machine with the NSF250 engine. Remy will work closely with Moriwaki Engineering to help develop the bike throughout the season for the company’s Moto3 GP aspirations.

The Moriwaki Dream won’t arrive in Spain until later in the month, so Remy took the opportunity to test the NSF250 this weekend and loved every minute of it. He told his father Wayne Gardner, “the bike is fantastic – I love riding it, but I want more power!”

The bikes were painted in matt black with basic decals of the team’s Main sponsors, Spanish publishing company RBA and entertainment brand, Extreme Freestylers. Final livery designs are being created by Extreme Freestylers’ parent company 247 Entertainment and won’t be revealed until just before the first race on April 1st. But Gardner promises the team’s image will “make a big impression”.

Luca Gardner also tested his brother’s bike from last year, the Moriwaki MD250, Pre-GP machine, riding it for the first time and walking away from the two-day test with a big smile on his face. As he gained confidence on the bike and learned the circuit he improved his time by 15 seconds at the end of day two.

TGR’s media team were on hand for the weekend to continue filming the team’s journey for a documentary they’re developing, and have put together a sneak peak from this weekend as well as a photo album of Remy, Luca and Gabriele.
